7.25.09 London.

Two free days in a row and another one tomorrow…love it! London has so much to offer and I feel like we haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of things to do here. It is honestly the best feeling though, knowing that we can do whatever we want at our own pleasure. We decided to hit up these markets we had heard about up near Notting Hill, called the Portobello markets, yes like the mushroom. I must tell a little tale about our adventure getting there. We found the train we needed to get on and it was simply sitting at the station waiting to depart. We saw people walking onto this particular car of the train and then walking quickly off. We wanted to have seats so since this car was empty we all walked in and sat. Well there was a serious reason why the car was empty – empty that is for one man. As we sat, there was honestly the worst smell I have ever smelt in my entire life, and one I never ever want to smell again. We could not figure out what it was until the man on the other side of the car stood up. This man was obviously homeless and past the point of smell or sense because covering his entire bottom half was crap…his own poop was covering his pants and flies were flying all around. You’d think that would be a clue to maybe lose the pants but maybe not. He got up as to leave the train but didn’t. He simply walked off, stood by the pole 3 feet away, and took a leak. I’ve never witnessed anything like it and although sad to watch, we couldn’t live with the stench and switched cars. We made it to the market and holy crap (no pun intended) these markets are huge! There were lots of food markets but there was a great amount of chic clothing. We found this adorable off the beaten path and everything was on sale. I can’t resist a good bargain and we all purchased a souvenir if you will from the establishment. Come to find out that those “unique” finds were also being sold out on the street but they are still lovely. We spent most of our day walking the markets and probably the best find of the day was a little Mexican resaurant! I have forgotten how much I love Mexican and what it tastes like. My quesadilla just hit me where it’s good. I was super pleased with the finds of the day and the food of the day. We made a quick stop at H&M just cuz we can. That makes 4 stops for this trip thus far and I find that to be impressive.

apparently he is the #1 guitar hero man. i think i'd give him a run for his money.

our mexican lunch. it was very smokey in there and our eyes burned yet it was so worth it.

my quesadilla. mmmmm.

just a royles royce. thats about the 5th one i've seen since we got here.

Next up: movie time. I tell you what the movies here are just so much better because the theatres are SO incredible! The prices are much higher as you could imagine yet I find it all worth the experience. There are floor, mezzanine and balcony seating options and the movie screen is on a stage with a curtain and all. It makes the production feel so important and as though you are at a premiere. An enjoyable evening to say the least. London – it is always a pleasure.

after the proposal. a great end to a perfect london evening.
